Our family established the business in 1937, offering a first-class crane and lifting hire service locally in East Sussex. We have now developed into a leading crane hire and contract lifting company serving the wider south-east England area, specialising in plant and machinery removal and installation and steel and timber erection. We aim to offer you competitive rates for crane hire and contact lifting, with all our staff trained to the highest standards to meet your requirements. We have an extensive range of modern equipment which caters for most lifting situations. We are able to offer a free site inspection which can assist you in solving your lifting requirements. We're available 24 hours, as we understand that lifting often has to be carried out in unsociable hours.

When hiring a crane under CPA Crane Hire conditions, you must provide an appointed person and supply the driver with a detailed method statement prior to the lift. The appointed person must supervise the lifting operation as detailed in BS 7121 (Safe Use of Cranes). To cover the Hired in Plant insurance, an amount is added to the standard price of crane hire. In the event a road closure is required, you will be responsible for this arrangement and for any traffic management that is required. We are however able to undertake this on your behalf and provide road traffic management and traffic management road signs if required.

When hiring a crane under CPA Contract Lift Conditions, Coussens of Bexhill will supply an appointed person to plan and supervise the lifting operation. We will also provide the agreed insurance cover as per CPA Contract Lift conditions, thus this is a managed and insured lift. In the event a road closure is required, we are able make this arrangement and supply any traffic management that is required. We will also provide traffic management road signs if required. For all contract lift work undertaken, a site visit is required beforehand by one of our appointed personnel.
